2-in-1 Hotness

Hi girls,
Recently, one of my SYB Babes wrote in and asked me what beauty stuff she should pack to study abroad in Italy. As I was thinking about what I took with me on my six-month sojourn to Seville in 2001, I was suddenly struck speechless. Had I never told miladies about the genius, multi-tasking WEN Cleansing Conditioner in Fig ($28)??! Could it be true? Darlings, this stuff will solve all your hair problems, rearrange your closets and quite possibly find you a man. Here's the thing. Shampoos are loaded with sodium laurel sulfates, which completely strip our hair of all it's natural oils, and only adds to our natural dryness...and causes breakage and dullage, besides. A brilliant hairstylist named Chaz Dean came up with the idea of a deeply moisturizing conditioner that also CLEANSES HAIR (!!), so you can skip shampoo, entirely (which I do anyway, every other week, to be honest). This stuff is so rich and luxurious, and it smells so divine, you can also use it as body cream and styling lotion for your ends. WEN Cleansing Conditioner comes in a bunch of different scents, including Sweet Almond Mint, Tea Tree, and Cucumber Aloe--but Fig is the best for "dry, heat damaged, color treated, medium to coarse, and ethnic hair." Um, us. I also enjoy Lavender, which is formulated for fine to medium-ish textured hair. Anyway, this stuff is a lifesaver, especially if you have wash-and-go curls you need to re-wet frequently, and you don't want to dehydrate your hair with constant shampooing. Try it!
xoxo,
Tia

PS. I thought I should mention that WEN Cleansing Conditioner is NOT a traditional two-in-one shampoo/conditioner. Those never work because they're loaded with sodium laurel sulfate, and don't have true conditioning properties. WEN skips the SLS, and is simply a fabulous moisturizer spiked with cleansing yumminess. Lovely.

Great idea! I solely condition every other week, too. I love that Neutrogena Conditioning Mask for it but I'll have to try this stuff!

Dammit Teacake!!! You know I'm still unemployed following that lay-off 2 months ago! And here you got me spending my unemployment check on this luxurious looking conditioner! I know it must be good, I will definitely have to try it. How many other people skip the shampoo and just condition every other week? I'd like to know, as I've never tried it before but am totally considering it.

Hey Tia,

can you do a post on what exactly a routine should be for no poo just conditioning your process? Is it for ladies with naturally curly hair or can this regimen be used on ladies with relaxed hair as well.

Hi Bijoux,
Actually, I have relaxed hair! The WEN Cleansing Conditioner works on all medium-to-coarse hair types...relaxed, natural, whatevah. I was just pointing out that this stuff is particularly genius if you're a wash-and-wear type of girl, and don't want to shampoo every time you re-wet your curls. Honey, you'll LOVE it! Use it like you would any conditioner, just skip the shampoo.
xoxo,
Tia

Ooh I love this idea. I only shampoo every other week and condition every week, as well. Especially in the winter w/hat hair and whatnot. I will definitely be giving this a try!

I've heard of this stuff, but I was highly doubtful that it would work on our hair...Now that it has your approval, I think I may try it! Does it detangle, well? That's one of the reasons I can't do 'natural 'poos...

i have used WEN a few times, got a great deal from QVC - there are a few things you should know before you try it (there may be a video on the chaz dean or qvc site) you use a great deal of product and the results are better for it - but it becomes expensive. It is like divide your hair in four sections and massage it in - like really work it in and let it sit for a bit.

I think I used about 40 pumps for my should length hair - one 16-oz bottle should last approximately four to six weeks and is $28, if brought separately. The results are great though, my hair was shiny and flowing - just how I like it.

do a search on qvc for A66946 - there is a video there.

Hi Lisa,
How many times a week did you wash your hair? I am trying to figure out how long a 16 oz. bottle will last. Who knows I might have to upgrade to that gallon size...haha.

As for me, I have short curly hair and was planning on using this 3x a week. I used to conditioner wash with Biolage, Redken, Paul Mitchell, Suave, etc. and the buildup and itchiness would be horrible. :( The curls looked great though... So I have a feeling this could work. :)

I love your site Tia! Thanks.

Best,
X.

I got the Almond Mint for my birthday and tried it last night. I'll admit, I was skeptical, but I followed the directions and didn't use any other product (so I could see the end result uncompromised!). I was scared to see what my hair would look like without using my wrap/setting lotion, but was amazed this morning!!! My hair was shiny, full of body and curled wonderfully!! I am a believer! This stuff rocks!

It sounds great, but I wonder, do you let your hair air dry like they suggest or do you blow dry?
