Baby Baby Baby!
Hi girls, HIGH-PITCHED HAPPY SQUEAL! My little muffin girl is here! I've never been happier. Little Carolina is just the MOST. I wish you could meet her. At a week and four days old, she doesn't do much communicating, but she speaks VOLUMES with her sparkly eyes and hilarious jazz hands. I only have a moment, but I wanted to thank all of you for your incredibly touching well wishes and congrats. It's amazing how touched you can be by people you've never even met! I adore my SYB Babes...and that's why it pains me to tell you that I'm taking a little three-month break to bond with my peanut. But I'll be back, bigger and deffer, around late Feb/early March. In the meantime, I leave you with this. Carolina came a little early because, well, I was hospitalized for food poisoning due to a shady Jamaican beef patty (I literally almost projectile-vomited out my daughter). So they had to take her out right away! Anyway, between the patty and the cherub, I was in the hospital for what felt like years. The ONLY thing that kept me feeling at all like myself was the contents of my toiletry bag. I'd had the foresight to throw Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations in Lavender/Rosewood ($29.50) in my purse as we ran out the door. It's a fabulous travel pack of Crabtree & Evelyn's fabulous aromatherapy Gentle Cream Body Wash, Soothing Body Lotion and Comforting Night Cream. Not only did the lavender scent help calm me down during quite a few high-stress moments, my roommate appreciated the spa-worthy scent wafting out of our shared shower. Yuuum. Forever more, the scent of lavender will remind me of my sweet girl's stunning debut. Contented sigh. Okay girls, my bundle o'amor is squirming, so I need to wrap this up. I love you all madly, and will return before you know it!! Have a FABULOUS holiday season!! Big kiss, Tia
Oh Carolina....
As in Herrera and not North or South or a tune made famous by Shaggy. Carolina May Cabezas arrived into a world of beauty at 12:47pm as her mom was completely unaware of the ravages that took place on the other side of the curtain. She weighed in at 5lbs 12oz and 18.5 inches long. Everyone is doing fine. Tia just wanted to thank everyone for all their support and wishes during this exciting time. When Tia is up for blogging she can tell you how her food poisoning from her favorite jamaican beef patty spot proved to be the catalyst that set in motion events that introduced Carolina to us 2 days earlier. Stay tuned for pics....
Baby Fast Track
SYB's, This is Tia's husband. Unfortunately, baby plans got pushed up and Tia won't be able to do her favorite holiday gift guide post b/c the baby is planning to come later today. We'll keep you posted with news once she gets here. Stay tuned for more babywatch '08....
Congrats to us!!
Hi girls, WE DID IT!! SI SE PUEDE! I suspect my in-utero munchkin was the campaign's good luck charm, but I have no way of proving this. I'll just have to know it in my heart, the way I know that America and the world will NEVER be the same! Isn't it exciting that this happened in our lifetime? WOO-HOO! I'm just mad that I couldn't find a New York Times ANYWHERE yesterday, dammit. My poor child's baby book will suffer for this. It's certainly a magical time, as evidenced not only by the election results, but also by the invitation I received to appear on The Today Show yesterday. So random, but totally fun and hilarious. Me, Adam, and le bump were part of a Kathie Lee & Hoda-hosted panel called "Modern Marriage." Check my wild gesticulating and Adam's frozen-in-mortal-terror expression here. And in more let's-humiliate-Sunshine news, the "I Married a Metrosexual" article I wrote for The Nest magazine was just picked up by MSN.com! Let me know what you think, and if you have any beloved Metros in your life. Stay tuned for Monday's post...the last one before my C-section on Wednesday, November 12th!! I'll be giving you a very premature holiday gift guide, as I wanted to make sure your shopping needs were taken care of before I went under le knife. I'll be going on a little maternity break, but I'll be back on March 1st!! Can't wait to give you all the deets on my Obama Baby!! kisses, Tia
Sasha & Malia would love this stuff...
Hi ladies, THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF OUR LIVES IS HERE!! Have you voted yet? I'm going the second I finish this post! I'm just mad I can't wear my fancy Obama pin (my girlfriend gave it to me yesterday...it's all crafty and decorated with feathers and sequins and stuff. Very Trannies of America Heart Obama). I don't want to get prematurely cozy with this whole thing, but the idea of bringing my little lady into the world the same month that our first black president is elected--and it's more than that, it's that it's HIM--well, it makes me want to burst with pride. It's just so sad that his grandma couldn't be here to see it. Okay, must stop. Don't want to count chickens or jinx the moment. But I just can't imagine a world where he wouldn't win (she said very very quietly)... So let's talk beauty for a quick moment. I recently bought Kiehls Superbly Restorative Argan Skin Salve ($25) as a baby moisturizer, and have decided that I need it more than the Lil Diva. Blended with patchouli, orange, cedarwood, and fair-trade Moroccan Argan oils, this intense salve is GENIUS...and it does everything. You just run your fingers over the hard salve, rub them together to melt it into a luxurious oil, and apply it wherever you need a moisture surge. I use it on my elbows, as massage oil (very necessary these days...thanks Sunshine!), on my cuticles, my lips, and even on the ends of my hair. It's definitely become a staple in my bathroom, and I plan to get another one for my bag. Worth every last dime of the $25! Now that I'm all moisturized and silky-soft, I'm on my way to Barack the Vote... Happy Election Day, Tia
